Javed Mustafa Mir visits Baltal, takes stock of Yatra arrangements

Minister for Revenue Javed Mustafa Mir today visited Manigam, Baltal and Dumail and took stock of the yatra arrangements there.Deputy Commissioner, Ganderbal,  Showkat Aijaz, DIG, Police, G.H.Bhat and other senior officers of district administration accompanied the Minister.While inspecting Manigam camp, the Minister directed Deputy Commissioner to ensure that hygienic food is provided to the Yatris and asked him to get the food checked by the Drug and Food Control Organization prepared in the Langars there. He asked him to set up additional lavatory facility in the camp for the convenience of the Yatris.

The Minister also visited the helipad, where from helicopter services are operated. He was informed that daily 1500 yatris are lifted to Holy-Cave Shrine for Darshan, while 6 helicopters of Pawan-Hans and Global Companies have been put in service. The Deputy Commissioner was instructed to ensure adequate drinking water facilities for the Yatris at the camp. He was also asked to increase tanker service in the camp till the new pipe line is laid to meet the requirement of the Yatries.

While inspecting medical facilities, the Minister was informed that a 14 bed hospital has been set up at Baltal apart from the medical camps set up at different location en-route the Cave. He was told that USG, ECG, X-Ray and lavatory facilities are available in the hospital, while as 70 doctors are rendering their services in the camps set up for the purpose. He was informed that 2300 patients have received treatment in these camps so far.

Later the Minister presided over a joint meeting of the officers of district administration and Shrine Board. He impressed upon the authorities to maintain close coordination to ensure that better facilities are provided to the Yatris.Giving details of the arrangements, the deputy commissioner said that 65000 yatries have had darshan of Holi cave till date. He said adequate arrangements for cleanliness in and around the camps have been made while 30 thousand quintal fire wood has been made available to the Lungars. He said 7000 pony have been registered in the camp and 2 veterinary hospitals have been established for treatment of ponies. To ensure round the clock availability of electricity, he said 15 transformers have been installed at different locations while 2 heavy gen sets  have been kept as standby arrangement in the camp.
