To commemorate its 14th anniversary today, Fortis Hospital Mohali organized a series of fun filled activities in the presence of eminent personalities from the organization - Mr Shivinder Mohan Singh, Executive Vice Chairman, Fortis Healthcare Limited and Mr Ashish Bhatia, Regional Director (North), Fortis Healthcare Ltd. As part of its endeavor to bring healthcare services to the underprivileged, the hospital will sponsor 14 surgeries this year, the first being of a 13 year old boy, Balaji, who was born with a rare congenital condition - a 7 inch tail that was fused at the bottom of the spinal cord. The highlight of the celebrations was a mega skit presented by doctors, nurses and other employees of the hospital. Titled ‘Bemisaal 14 Saal’, the skit brought alive the 14-year journey of the hospital, with highlights from each year celebrated. The audience comprised both old and new employees, including many Golden Fortisians (employees who have been at Fortis for at least 10 years).

In his address, Mr Shivinder Mohan Singh, Executive Vice Chairman, Fortis Healthcare Limited said that Fortis Mohali was extremely special to him and would always remain the ‘jewel in the crown’ of Fortis. “Fortis Mohali has remained at the forefront and paved the way for the rest of our hospitals. Whether it was getting relevant accreditations such as JCI and NABH or introducing measurement and processes in Clinical Excellence or Patient Care, Fortis Mohali has set the standard and inspired other hospitals to follow suit.” He took this opportunity to congratulate the Golden Fortisians who received awards for completing 10 years of dedicated service with the company. He further added, “We started the hospital together, grew from strength to strength and today have set the benchmark in the delivery of quality healthcare.”After a traditional lamp lighting ceremony, Mr Ashish Bhatia, Regional Director (North), Fortis Healthcare Ltd, addressed the audience and welcomed all to the grand celebrations. “This is a proud moment for all of us in the organization and an opportunity for us to reflect, rejoice and recapture the moments that have led to this landmark occasion. The journey has been memorable as Fortis Mohali grew from a flagship first into a noteworthy hub known for clinical excellence and distinctive patient care. Having started as a Cardiac Care Hospital, we now have become the leading tertiary care multispecialty hospital with Centres of Excellence in Cardiac Sciences, Orthopaedics & Joint Replacement, Neurosciences, Oncology, Renal Sciences, Mother & Child Health and Vascular Sciences. However, what has remained unchanged is our commitment to saving and enriching lives.”

A devotional dance by the nurses of the hospital kick-started the extravaganza which was followed by a series of cultural performances. Interspersed with emotional speeches by senior management, who fondly talked about the moments spent in the organization, the programme captured the myriad dimensions of the healthcare industry. Speaking on the occasion, Mr Abhijit Singh, Facility Director, Fortis Mohali, said “Fortis Hospital Mohali, which started off as a Cardiac super-specialty hospital, is now a multi-specialty tertiary care centre.  We have optimized the existing space and are presently a 344 bed facility. Last year, we added Fortis Cancer Institute (FCI), the region’s most comprehensive cancer care centre offering medical, surgical and radiation oncology.  The facility is equipped with cutting-edge Radiation Therapy with world-class Monaco Treatment Planning System and offers the latest radiation therapies such as VMAT, SRS, SBRT and SRT. Poised for further growth, we will soon unveil a comprehensive Mother & Child Care program, in addition to strengthening our Organ Transplant program”
