Hailing the reports about measures being taken by the State Government against tainted bureaucrats and corrupt officers former Minister senior Congress leader Abdul Gani Vakil Friday said that more effective steps are required to be taken against the epidemic of bribery and graft. He referred to failure of State Accountability Commission for political and other interference and questioned the bonafides State Government to eradicate rampant corruption all over here.Vakil told CNS that some politicians have amassed immense wealth which is far beyond their ostensible sources of income. They must account for the illegitimate assets and properties which belong to the poor taxpayer and the depredated public. He added that with support of politicians the bureaucrats too have procured properties in the state and outside.
He stressed upon the government to come with a clear policy against the corruption and activate legal agencies against wrong doers against whom dozens of cases are pending in Accountability Commission which have been stayed in the higher courts without further proceedings. Vakil demanded stringent measures and strides to control the menace and said no bureaucrat can do wrong without backing of politicians at the helm of affairs. He demanded immediate formation of independent commission headed by Sitting High Court judge to enquire into massive irregularity and bungling of bureaucrats and politicians. “Let people know their known source of income and put the facts and figures in public domain,” Vakil said.
