Srinagar , 14 Dec 2014

Four distrcits Srinagar, Shopian, Anantnag & Samba districts of state voted for the fourth phase of elections. Despite shutdown & boycott call from the separatist groups of Kashmir, brisk polling was witnessed across the three districts of Kashmir. Accept a few locations where polling remained affected as deserted streets in some sensitive areas of the Srinagar district could not find any voter movement towards the polling booths.People while polling their votes castigated over the governance of the present government and expressed that today they have voted for honest government to come next so that they would be benefitted in the form of development that was washed away by the recent floods.

Eighteen constituencies spread over four districts Srinagar, Anantnag and Shopian in the Kashmir Valley and Samba district in Jammu region will elect their representatives in this phase.“I belong to Batamalo constituency, Bemina area has suffered largely in recent devastating floods but present government has only made huge assurances but failed to come up to our expectation today I have voted for the new government and new candidate of our constituency who could fulfill our demands and help the poor people to come out of the misery,” Said, Abdul Ahad a voter.

“People in Kashmir have just received false assurances and fake promises from the present government. We have been deceived by the government but this time all voters, mothers, sisters and brothers have come to vote for development and to form new honest government. It is our democratic right and we shall not lose this opportunity as present government representatives who have just provided facilities to their personal agents and relatives but neglected common people,” said Gulzar Ahmad, another voter. He further said that today he has come to cast his vote for the change in the governance which can be done only by this democratic right and being the middle class persons they have not received any assistance for poor families from the present government and today leaving besides the strike and boycott call we should vote and form a new government.
