Saying National Conference will continue to pursue its agenda of development and good governance, Provincial President Devender Singh Rana on Sunday felt that emotive sloganeering is not in the interest of Jammu and Kashmir keeping in view the magnitude of Challenges.“We have to strive for consolidating peace, continuing development and assuaging the political and economic aspirations of the people who have been grappling with multitude of problems over the years”, the Provincial President said while addressing several workers meetings across Nagrota constituency.Rana, contesting from Nagrota in the ensuing assembly elections, said the Omar led government has succeeded in steering the state from uncertainty to stability by heralding peace and giving a new dimension to development, the people have realized that there can’t be any other path than taking substantive measures for public welfare. He said while achievements have been enormous, the challenges too are equally manifold. In this context he referred to the massive challenges unfolded by recent floods and landslides that call for priority focus owing to onset of the winter.

The Provincial President expressed hope that people will appreciate their responsibilities and vote for a strong government to carry on the agenda set in motion six years ago. He expressed satisfaction and a sense of pride over the achievements and said that the vision of the Chief Minister has instilled a sense of confidence among the people about better tomorrow.“In our odyssey of development, Nagrota constituency has also benefitted in  terms of development and progress during the past six years”, he said and gave a broad overview of developmental projects taken up in road, power, drinking water and rural development sectors.He said the carving out of new administrative units has opened up window of opportunity for expansion, development and fulfillment of aspiration on account of decision making.

“Looking back to the achievements on developmental front in recent years, we are encouraged to believe that vision of making Nagrota as a model constituency is not too far”, he said and reiterated his commitment of converting the area as Nava Jammu. He sought a decisive mandate for National Conference in 2014 elections, saying a stable and strong government is pre-requisite for satiating political, economic and developmental issues of Jammu and Kashmir. “National Conference alone can meet the challenge of steering the state to peace and prosperity in view of its chequered history and presence in nook and corner of the state”, he maintained.The Provincial President dwelt on the performance Omar led government saying that holding of Panchayat elections after 33 years demonstrated his deep urge for strengthening democracy at the grass roots level and involve the rural people in decision making process. He also referred to the revolutionary legislations like Right to Information andPublic Services Guarantee Acts, saying these are aimed at empowering the people and making the administration responsive.He hoped the people will strengthen the hands of the Chief Minister in a big way.
