On the directives of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and DGP Gaurav Yadav to launch crackdown against the drugs, the district police under Cordon & Search Operation (CASO) carried out searches in drug hotspots following which 12 FIRs under NDPS act were registered with the arrest of 12 accused and one proclaimed offender.
Giving further information on operation, SSP Sandeep Kumar Malik said the search operation was being carried by multiple teams of several police station under the supervision of ADGP Naresh Arora (Human Rights). The SSP l said the police had adopted stringent measures to keep tab on the drug peddlers and smugglers. He added that the district police had focussed on drug hotspots areas.
SSP said as many as 12 FIRs were registered under NDPS act, while 12 accused involved in drug smuggling and one proclaimed offender were arrested. ‘Police have recovered 20gm of heroin, 255 gram of drug powder, 1417 habit forming drug tablets and Rs 5,500 of drug money,” he added
Malik also pointed out that in the past months, the district police had freezed properties worth over Rs 20 crore acquired by drug smugglers through drug money. He said the drug peddlers and smugglers would be dealt with heavy hand in near future as well.
