Under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Punjab government has intensified its campaign against drugs. Following the directives of DGP Gaurav Yadav, a large-scale search operation was conducted in Fazilka district at suspicious locations, leading to the registration of 11 FIRs and the arrest of 11 individuals. SSP Varinder Singh Brar shared this information while addressing the media, accompanied by SP Pradeep Singh Sandhu and SP Karanbir Singh.

Providing further details, SSP Brar stated that today’s extensive search operation covered 11 villages and localities. During the drive, 129 suspicious individuals or locations were examined, resulting in the detention of eight individuals and the rounding up of another eight. A total of 11 cases were registered, with arrests as follows: four in Fazilka subdivision, three each in Jalalabad and Abohar subdivisions, and one in Abohar rural subdivision.

SSP Brar also disclosed that the police recovered 54 grams of heroin, ₹34,100 in drug money, 665 intoxicating pills, 155 liters of illicit liquor (lahan), and a motorcycle from the accused. Highlighting a significant community-oriented initiative, SSP Brar revealed that two drug-affected individuals were encouraged and admitted to a rehabilitation center by the police.

He emphasized that individuals suffering from addiction can seek treatment and reintegrate into society as responsible citizens. Expressing gratitude to the media for their support, SSP Brar asserted that with collective social efforts and community participation, the district police will succeed in eradicating drug abuse.

He issued a stern warning to those involved in drug trafficking to either cease their illegal activities or be prepared to face legal consequences. He further assured that the police will continue this operation alongside awareness campaigns to educate citizens at the grassroots level.

He also emphasized that any government official found negligent or complicit in drug-related crimes will not be spared. "The Punjab Police remains steadfast in its mission to create a drug-free society and will leave no stone unturned in achieving this goal", he added.
