To ensure that individuals affected by drug menace have equal opportunities for employment or self-employment, Deputy Commissioner Jitendra Jorwal has directed officials to develop a comprehensive plan for providing sustainable livelihood opportunities for them. This initiative aims to integrate rehabilitation with skill development and employment, taking a holistic approach to help these individuals lead normal lives by reintegrating them into society.

During a meeting of the Governing Council of the District Bureau of Employment and Enterprises (DBEE) and the District Skill Committee, Jorwal stated that individuals struggling with drug dependence would be offered various job opportunities, in addition to enhancing their skills through training programs.

This support is intended to empower them to earn a livelihood like others. He stated that Punjab government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann is committed to driving youth employment, skill enhancement, and social rehabilitation initiatives.

He further instructed officials to focus on industry empanelment in collaboration with the Punjab Skill Development Mission (PSDM) to facilitate captive employment by creating strong linkages between industry partners and the local workforce, thereby driving sustainable economic growth.
