Deputy Commissioner Vishesh Sarangal chaired a meeting with SDMs and officials from various departments to review the progress of the anti-drug campaign in Moga. The Deputy Commissioner directed the SDMs to reconnect with approximately 7,000 patients who had initiated treatment but dropped out.
He emphasized the need to ensure that these patients resume their treatment. DC Sarangal instructed the officials to ensure that all necessary facilities, including medicines, testing kits, and staff, are available at the de-addiction centers and rehabilitation center.
He also directed the officials to double the stock of medicines to avoid any shortage. The Deputy Commissioner warned that the sale of banned drugs will not be tolerated and instructed the SDMs and Drug Control Officers to conduct regular checks at medical stores and de-addiction centers.
DC Sarangal emphasized the need to create awareness about the dangers of drug abuse and its impact on health. He appealed to the public to support the anti-drug campaign and help eradicate the menace of drug abuse from society.
The Deputy Commissioner will review the progress of the anti-drug campaign every week. Earlier, Dr. Charanpreet Singh Brar, Psychiatric Specialist, informed that there are currently 18 OOAT clinics operating in Moga, along with one government-run rehabilitation center and four private de-addiction centers.
