The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) has successfully completed its extensive membership drive in Patiala district, enrolling approximately 2.5 lakh new members. Addressing a press conference, Gurpreet Singh Raju Khanna, General Secretary of Shiromani Akali Dal, and Youth Akali Dal President Sarabjeet Singh Jhinjer lauded the dedication of party workers and took a strong stand on key political issues.
Gurpreet Singh Raju Khanna slammed dissident leaders who have labeled the membership drive as bogus, asserting that the entire process was conducted with complete transparency and integrity. He reaffirmed that the Shiromani Akali Dal remains strong and unwavering, and that the massive participation in the membership drive is a testament to the party’s resilience.
He extended his heartfelt congratulations to all workers and leaders who contributed to the success of this campaign, emphasizing that the party continues to move forward in Chardikala.arabjeet Singh Jhinjer, who was the observer for the membership drive in Patiala district, also appreciated the hard work of all the leaders from different Halkas of Patiala district for making the membership drive a success.
Sarabjeet Jhinjer also raised serious questions about Giani Harpreet Singh’s recent actions. He criticized Giani Harpreet Singh for attending an event organized by Prem Singh Chandumajra in Halka Sanaur, pointing out the contradictions in his stance. He reminded the public that this was the same Prem Singh Chandumajra and Bibi Jagir Kaur who stood before Sri Akal Takht Sahib and lied.
He further stated that during the December 2 hearing, Chandumajra had argued with Giani Harpreet Singh, denied his involvement in the apology to Ram Rahim, and was exposed with proof of his lies by Giani Harpreet Singh himself. He questioned how Giani Harpreet Singh, who once exposed Chandumajra’s falsehoods, was now sharing a stage with him and even accepting honors from him.
He asked whether Giani Harpreet Singh had given Chandumajra a clean chit for personal political interests, despite his betrayal of the Sikh community.Jhinjer strongly criticized Giani Harpreet Singh for failing to hold such individuals accountable and instead choosing to align with them for political convenience.
He questioned how a former Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib could now embrace those who had once deceived the Sikh Kaum. He also took strong exception to Giani Harpreet Singh’s recent statement comparing Sri Akal Takht Sahib—the highest temporal seat of Sikhs—with the RSS, calling it deeply hurtful to Sikh sentiments.
He further pointed out that during his visit to Sanaur in Patiala district, Giani Harpreet Singh failed to address the real issues affecting the region, including drug abuse, illegal mining, the liquor mafia, and corruption in sarpanch elections. He accused him of ignoring these pressing concerns and instead focusing solely on attacking the Shiromani Akali Dal.
He asserted that this is no longer just a political matter but a battle between truth and falsehood, and that the party will not remain silent.Jhinjer also criticized Giani Harpreet Singh for justifying his attendance at Raghav Chadha’s wedding by stating that his children wanted to meet Priyanka Chopra.
He stated that such remarks are unbecoming of a former Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib, who should be speaking about Sikh Gurus, their teachings, and their sacrifices, rather than Bollywood celebrities. He said that such statements deeply hurt the Sikh Kaum.Concluding the press conference, Jhinjer asserted that now that Giani Harpreet Singh has stepped into politics, he must be held accountable for his actions and statements.
