Haryana’s Energy Minister, Sh. Anil Vij said that Haryana’s power Discoms, namely Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam Limited (UHBVNL) and Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam Limited (DHBVNL), have secured the first and second positions, respectively, in Overall Distribution Utilities Ranking (DUR) in the country.

While providing more details, Sh. Vij stated that based on the DUR scoring methodology, Haryana’s two power distribution corporations have been awarded the first and second rankings for the year 2023-24.

He explained that the combined score for each DISCOM was calculated as the average of points obtained across six parameters. Based on this combined score, the distribution utilities ranking was determined, placing UHBVNL at the top position and DHBVNL in second place.

The Energy Minister further elaborated that UHBVNL achieved a 100% Renewable Purchase Obligation (RPO) Achievement, along with high scores in other parameters such as IR reports, CSRD reports, communicable system metering, demand-side response and resource adequacy.

UHBVNL’s total combined score was 80.8, the highest in the country, securing the first rank. Similarly, DHBVNL also achieved 100% RPO achievement  and scored well in the same parameters, with a total combined score of 78.9, earning it the second position nationwide.

It is noteworthy that among other power distribution corporations in the country, Odisha’s TPWODL secured third place, followed by Odisha’s TPNODL in fourth place. Kerala’s KSEBL ranked fifth, Odisha’s TPCODL sixth, Punjab’s PSPCL seventh, Bihar’s NBPDCL eighth, Andhra Pradesh’s APEPDCL ninth, Goa’s Goa PD tenth, Gujarat’s DGVCL eleventh, Gujarat’s UGVCL twelfth, and MGVCL at the thirteenth position.

Similarly, in the power distribution ranking, Madhya Pradesh’s MPPAKVVCL secured the 14th position, Karnataka’s GESCOM 15th, Bihar’s SBPDCL 16th, Chhattisgarh’s CSPDCL 17th, Gujarat’s PGVCL 18th, Rajasthan’s JVVNL 19th and Puducherry’s GED DISCOM 20th position.

Sh. Vij said that currently, almost all villages in Haryana receive 24-hour electricity supply. He assured that further concrete steps would be taken to strengthen the power distribution system and infrastructure to ensure uninterrupted and quality power supply for the people of Haryana.

The Energy Minister also appealed to the people of the Haryana to use electricity responsibly and opt for energy-efficient appliances to reduce power consumption.
