Haryana Police has secured the first position for the 10th time in 2024 in the monthly ranking of the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network System (CCTNS) by the National Crime Records Bureau, Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India. Director General of Police, Sh. Shatrujeet Kapur, has congratulated the entire CCTNS team for this achievement.

Director of the State Crime Records Bureau (SCRB), Sh. Sibash Kabiraj stated that the objective of developing CCTNS is to create a comprehensive and integrated system for crime investigation and apprehending criminals. Since Sh. Shatrujeet Kapur assumed office as DGP in August 2023, several positive changes have been implemented in the SCRB to enhance technical capabilities and improve work processes.

As a result, Haryana Police has secured the first position in the NCRB's monthly ranking 15 times in the last 17 months. He mentioned that the state police have demonstrated excellent performance across various parameters in this monthly ranking issued by the central government.

Haryana Police secured the third position nationwide in August and September 2024 with a score of 99.99 percent, while achieving a perfect score in other months. Currently, the state police are utilizing CCTNS for various tasks, including FIR registration, non-cognizable reports, medico-legal cases, missing persons, lost property, missing livestock, foreign registration, C-forms, unclaimed/abandoned property, unidentified/found persons, preventive actions, registration of supervision reports/progress, registration of unidentified dead bodies/unnatural deaths, research-related work, registration of complaints, database services, etc.

He further added that the state police have consistently performed well in the CCTNS ranking. CCTNS is used by the police to create a database of crime and criminals. In this sequence, 54,405 fingerprint data were uploaded last year in the NAFIS software operated by the State Crime Record Bureau, and matched with the data of arrested accused and unidentified bodies.

Out of these uploaded fingerprints, 25,400 fingerprint slips matched with NAFIS records, which had previous criminal records. In 2024, approximately 2392 chance prints (samples collected from the scene of the incident) were lifted from the crime scene, out of which 916 chance print data were successfully uploaded and verified on NAFIS.

Haryana Police organized 46 workshops to train police personnel about the NAFIS system. So far, 16 unidentified bodies with previous criminal records have also been identified with the help of the NAFIS system. In 2024, 26 cases were resolved through the NAFIS software, including 6 murder cases.

FIR Data Being Uploaded on CCTNS

All police stations in the state have been connected to CCTNS. Currently, FIRs are being written through CCTNS itself. Similarly, the score of the National Cyber Helpline 1930 in the state has been 100 percent on the Pragati Dashboard, which means that the state police are currently taking prompt and effective action on the complaints received on the cyber helpline number.
