Deputy Commissioner Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal announced today that, with the aim of promoting and expanding the mother tongue, Punjabi, Maa Boli Diwas will be celebrated on February 21. Presiding over a meeting with General Secretary Punjab Jagriti Manch Deepak Bali, officials from departments concerned, and representatives from various schools and colleges, the Deputy Commissioner discussed the elaborate arrangements for the event. 

He stated that a march will be organized on Maa Boli Diwas, featuring thousands of students from different schools and colleges. The march will commence from Lyallpur Khalsa School, proceed through Nakodar Chowk, Bhagwan Valmiki Chowk, Company Bagh Chowk, and Bhagat Namdev Chowk, culminating near Desh Bhagat Yadgar Hall, where a cultural program will take place with performances by renowned Punjabi singers. 

Dr. Aggarwal also mentioned that various Punjabi language-themed tableaux will be showcased during the event. He announced a cash prize of Rs.11,000 for the best tableau. The Deputy Commissioner emphasized that the purpose of celebrating this day is not only to promote the mother tongue Punjabi, but also to instill love, awareness, and a positive attitude towards the Punjabi language among the younger generation. 

He instructed officials to ensure timely arrangements for the event, including refreshments and drinking water for students, transportation, deployment of medical teams with ambulances, cleanliness along the march route, and temporary restrooms. Dr. Aggarwal extended an invitation to district residents to actively participate in the event dedicated to the mother tongue, Punjabi. 

Prominent amongst others present in the meeting included S.D.M. Balbir Raj Singh, District Program Officer Manjinder Singh, Deputy D.E.O. Rajeev Joshi, officials from various departments, office bearers of Punjab Jagriti Manch, and representatives from schools and colleges.
