On the occasion of launch of National Geospatial Knowledge-Based Land Survey of Urban Habitations (NAKSHA), a programme was today held at Lal Ded Auditorium, Islamic University of Science & Technology (IUST), Awantipora. The event was attended by MLA Tral, Rafiq Ahmad Naikoo and Deputy Commissioner (DC) Pulwama besides Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Awantipora, SP Awantipora, officials from the Revenue and Municipal departments, the Registrar and faculty members of IUST as well as other allied departments and local citizens.

Pertinently,  Muncipal Committee Awantipora was among the 152 Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) across 26 States and 3 Union Territories (UTs) shortlisted for the launch. The event featured awareness campaigns highlighting the role of NAKSHA in modernizing land management. 

On the occasion, technical experts provided insights into the necessity of geospatial technologies in urban planning and land record management. The NAKSHA program aims to create and update land records in urban areas to ensure accurate and reliable documentation of land ownership.

This initiative is set to empower citizens, improve ease of living, enhance urban planning and reduce land-related disputes. The IT-based system for property record administration will foster transparency, efficiency and support sustainable development.
