CGC Landran’s College of Engineering (CGC-COE), organised an e-learning workshop on Virtual Labs to equip students with advanced knowledge in remote learning. The practical training session was attended by 350 students and 32 faculty members of the institution.

An initiative of the Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of India under the aegis of the ‘National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology’(ICT), the Virtual Labs project is a consortium activity consisting of 12 participating institutions with IIT Delhi being the coordinating institute.

This project aims to foster the culture of community learning in Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) encouraging students to explore modern educational tools. The e-learning workshop which offered an interactive learning experience through Virtual Labs self-learning platform, trained students to work with emerging technologies such as Flutter, enabling them to transform their innovative ideas into practically implementable, hybrid applications.

It also provided students an opportunity to perform simulated experiments by getting remote access to simulation-based labs in science and engineering. The key takeaways from this workshop included Open Source Learning Platforms for enhanced accessibility, self-learning and hands-on experimentation to encourage innovation and remote access to engineering courses to facilitate continuous education.

Additionally the session introduced students to a comprehensive learning management system featuring video lectures, animated demonstrations, additional web resources and self-evaluation tools to support independent learning.

The e-learning workshop inspired and motivated young minds by providing them practical exposure to real time hybrid application development. It helped stimulate students’ curiosity and interest in technological advancements preparing and upskilling them for today’s competitive job market and to become more confident in pursuing a successful career path.

The workshop also underlines CGC-COE’s commitment to promote innovative education and skill development in both students and faculty, said Dr. Anuj Gupta, Director-Principal, CGC-COE.

The first such workshop was organised for both faculty members and students of CGC Landran in the year 2022 by resource personnel from IIT Delhi to demonstrate how to use these Virtual Labs and extract the maximum benefit out of them. Its primary aim is to provide easily accessible and high quality education across the country.
