The Career Development and Guidance Center (CDGC) of Punjab Engineering College (Deemed to be University), Chandigarh, successfully organized “PRAN-2025”, a premier initiative dedicated to UPSC aspirants, on 12th February 2025. Designed to provide invaluable guidance to students aspiring for the Indian Administrative Services (IAS) and other civil services, the event brought together distinguished experts who shared their insights, strategies, and experiences, igniting inspiration among future civil servants.

The event commenced with the auspicious lighting of the ceremonial lamp, marking the beginning of an enriching session. The occasion was graced by Mr. Ajay Chagti, IAS (Secretary, Chandigarh Administration; CEO, Chandigarh Housing Board; and Chairman, CITCO) as the Chief Guest. He was warmly welcomed alongside Prof. (Dr.) Rajesh Kumar Bhatia, Director, PEC, Prof. J.D. Sharma (Head, CDGC), Dr. Sanjay Batish, Dr. Shilpi Chaudhary, Dr. Ankit Kumar, and other esteemed faculty members.

Prof. J.D. Sharma extended a heartfelt welcome to the dignitaries and students, emphasizing the pivotal role of CDGC in career development and encouraging aspirants to imbibe the wisdom imparted by the esteemed speakers. In his inspiring address, Prof. (Dr.) Rajesh Kumar Bhatia highlighted PEC’s rich legacy, its distinguished alumni, and the institute’s pioneering contributions to the engineering and defense sectors. 

Acknowledging the presence of NCC cadets from various institutions, he lauded their enthusiasm for participating in this transformative session. He further commended Prof. J.D. Sharma and the CDGC team for their commendable efforts in organizing such a meaningful and impactful initiative.

The hallmark of PRAN-2025 was an interactive session featuring prominent speakers:

Mr. Ajay Chagti, IAS, shared invaluable insights into public administration, governance, and the path to success in civil services. Mr. Sourab Kumar Arora, PCS (Director, Cultural Affairs, UT; Director, Sports Activities; Joint Chief Electoral Officer) delved into the strategic approach required for UPSC preparation and the significance of perseverance.

Mr. Vivek Rana (Founder of 'Youth for Biodiversity' and mentor to hundreds of civil servants) provided first-hand experiences, tips, and inspiration, drawing from his remarkable feat of clearing Civil Service Prelims 14 times in four years (4 UPSC + 10 state PCS). The event culminated on a high note, leaving students motivated and well-equipped with clarity, confidence, and direction to pursue their UPSC dreams. 

Through such initiatives, PEC continues to uphold its legacy as a beacon of excellence, nurturing young minds, fostering leadership, and instilling a profound sense of national service.
