During the time of Sant Ravidas' birth, our country was deeply entrenched in orthodoxy, superstition, hypocrisy, and caste-based discrimination. He dedicated his life to eradicating these social evils and promoting brotherhood through the path of the Bhakti movement. He is counted among the leading saints of the Bhakti movement," said Sanjay Tandon, National Executive Member of the Bharatiya Janata Party and Co-incharge of Himachal BJP.

Tandon participated in an event organized by the Government Resident Welfare Association of Sector 39 on the occasion of Guru Ravidas Jayanti. He was accompanied by Municipal Mayor Harpreet Kaur Babla, Senior Deputy Mayor Jasbir Singh Bunty, local councilor Gurbaksh Kaur Rawat, BJP State Vice President Davinder Singh Babla, State Co-coordinator of the Business Cell Sanjeev Grover, Mandal President Amit Nagar, former district social media coordinator Nitesh Ratan, and Ashish Chaudhary, among others.

Providing details about the event, Association President Daljeet Singh Kaner and General Secretary Babu Lal Ram stated that Guru Ravidas Jayanti is celebrated annually on the auspicious occasion of Magh Purnima. In honor of this occasion, the Association organized the recitation of Shri Sukhmani Sahib, where hundreds of devotees, including distinguished guests, paid their respects to the holy Shri Guru Granth Sahib and received blessings.

A community feast (Langar) was also organized during the event. Addressing the gathering, Sanjay Tandon extended his greetings on this sacred occasion and emphasized that Guru Ravidas devoted his life to the path of Bhakti, considering divine devotion as the highest virtue.

He strongly opposed casteism and social discrimination and used his poetry to educate people against false rituals, hypocrisy, and rigid traditions. His teachings inspire us to uphold equality, love, devotion, and simplicity in society. On this occasion, Mayor Harpreet Kaur Babla also extended her wishes and stated that Guru Ravidas lived a simple life dedicated to spreading awareness among the people.

Through his poetry, he attacked falsehood and encouraged people to follow the path of righteousness. Many of his key verses and couplets are also included in the sacred Sikh scripture, the ‘Guru Granth Sahib.’ She urged everyone to follow the path shown by Guru Ravidas, eradicate caste-based discrimination, and embrace humanity with love, which is the true essence of life.
