Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Manzoor Ahmad Qadri on Tuesday flagged off a group of 40 silkworm rearers (farmers) for an exposure tour. The exposure tour is aimed at providing participants with hands-on experience and practical insights into the latest advancements in sericulture.

District Sericulture Officer Bandipora apprised the Deputy Commissioner that during the exposure tour the farmers will visit key sericulture centers, including the Temperate Sericulture Research Institute Mirgund, Basic Seed Station Mirgund, and the P4 Basic Seed Station Manasbal. 

He informed that the participating farmers had previously attended a 03-day skill Development Programme under HADP. Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Commissioner M.A.Qadri said that the exposure tour will offer an opportunity to witness modern sericulture practices and technologies that could be applied to enhance productivity and equip farmers with essential skills to improve their silkworm rearing practices.

He emphasized the importance of exposure tours, stating that such visits  provide valuable first-hand experience and practical knowledge to the farmers besides highlighted the role of these initiatives in empowering the farmers particularly  youth  to improve their livelihoods and contribute to the growth of the sericulture sector.
