Fazilka Police Organizes District-Level Sports Tournament to Engage Youth

As per the directives of DGP Punjab, Gaurav Yadav, the Fazilka Police, under the leadership of SSP Varinder Singh Brar, organized a district-level open sports tournament today at Shaheed Bhagat Singh Multi-Purpose Sports Stadium, Fazilka. The objective of this tournament was to channel the energy of the youth into sports, keeping them away from drug abuse and other social evils.

On this occasion, the Hon’ble District and Sessions Judge Shri Avtar Singh, Deputy Commissioner Amarpreet Kaur Sandhu, Shri Karuna Nidhi, BSF officials, and other distinguished personalities attended the event to encourage the players. Addressing the gathering, SSP Varinder Singh Brar stated that the district police actively working on community engagement initiatives and organizing sports competitions in various areas to engage the youth. 

Today’s events included 100m, 200m, 400m, and 1600m races for boys and girls. Additionally, Punjab-style Kabaddi and National-style Kabaddi matches were conducted for both boys and girls. Kho-Kho matches were also held for both genders. In the Tug-of-War event, teams from Punjab Police subdivisions of Jalalabad, Fazilka, Abohar, and the DPO office participated. Apart from this, school children also competed in Tug-of-War matches. 

Long jump competitions were conducted as well. Students from Akal Academy, Theh Kalandar, presented Gatka, a traditional Sikh martial art. Singer Jaswinder Jassi performed a cultural program, and school children demonstrated yoga postures.Under the Buddy Program of the Education Department, students from various schools participated in the sports event and competed in different games. Wrestling matches were a major highlight of the event.

SSP Varinder Singh Brar emphasized that the district police will continue to organize such sports competitions to guide the energy of the youth in a positive direction. He expressed confidence in the abilities of the young generation, stating that they are capable of facing any challenge and possess immense talent. These competitions provide them with a platform to showcase their skills.

Winners from various sporting events were awarded prizes. Present at the event were Shri Ramneesh Kumar, SP (Local), Fazilka; Shri Pradeep Singh Sandhu, SP (Investigation), Fazilka; Shri Barjinder Singh, DSP Crime Against Women, Fazilka; Shri Tarsem Masih, DSP Subdivision Fazilka; Shri Jatinder Singh, DSP Subdivision Jalalabad; Shri Tejinderpal Singh, DSP Subdivision Abohar Rural, along with other officers and personnel of Fazilka Police in large numbers.
