Strengthening Industry-Academia Ties: Micron Technology Engages with PEC Students

The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering at Punjab Engineering College (Deemed to be University), Chandigarh, organized a special interactive session today with Er. Gursharan Singh (Batch of 1981, Senior Vice President, Micron Technology, USA) and his team from Micron. The event was graced by Prof. Rajesh Kumar Bhatia, Director, PEC, along with Er. Manish Gupta (President PECOSA), Prof. Arun Kumar Singh and Dr. Simranjit Singh.

Prof. Arun Kumar Singh warmly introduced Er. Gursharan Singh, highlighting his remarkable achievements, and welcomed the esteemed guests. Director PEC, Prof. Rajesh Kumar Bhatia, extended a heartfelt welcome to the dignitaries, expressing appreciation for Er. Gursharan Singh’s invaluable contributions to his alma mater. 

He commended the strong industry-academia collaboration that continues to benefit PEC students. During the session, Er. Gursharan Singh provided insights into the semiconductor industry, its fundamental processes, and Micron Technology’s cutting-edge advancements. 

He encouraged students by recognizing their efforts and presenting them with a token of appreciation. A total of 80 students have been selected for a collaborative course between the Department of ECE and Micron, aimed at equipping them with industry-relevant skills in semiconductor technology. 

An MoU regarding this would be signed off tomorrow at the occasion of Global Alumni Meet-2025. Additionally, Mr. Shahebaz Saiyad guided students through the enrollment process for Micron’s programs, while other team members shared valuable insights on industry trends and career opportunities. 

The event concluded on an engaging and interactive note, leaving students inspired and motivated to explore the world of semiconductors.
