Guru Nanak Dev University Secures 2nd Runners-Up at North Zone Youth Festival 2024-25

Guru Nanak Dev University won 2nd Runners Up position at the 38th Inter University North Zone Youth Festival 2024-25 held at Panjab University, Chandigarh organized under the aegis of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU). 

Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Karamjeet Singh congratulated the winning teams, individuals and members of the Cultural Committee of the University. Dr Amandeep Singh Incharge Director Youth Welfare of the Guru Nanak Dev University said that This prestigious festival saw enthusiastic participation from over a thousand students representing twenty-one universities across Northern India. 

The Guru Nanak Dev University contingent showcased remarkable talent and dedication throughout the five-day event, emerging as a formidable force among their peers. With great pride and achievement, Guru Nanak Dev University secured Overall 2nd Runners-up Position, behind winner CU Gharuan and First Runners-up LPU. 

This accolade reflects not just individual excellence but also collective teamwork and commitment to cultural expression. In addition to their overall standing, The University excelled in various categories.

Prof. Palwinder Singh, Dean Academic Affairs, Prof. Karanjeet Singh Kahlon, Registrar, Prof. Preet Mohinder Singh Bedi, Dean Student Welfare also congraulated the student artists and members of the Cultural Committee.

Dr. Amandeep Singh said that in Fine Arts, they were crowned Champions, highlighting their artistic prowess. Furthermore, in the section of dance items, they achieved an impressive 1st Runners up position while securing a commendable 2nd Runners up spot in music categories. 

The team dominated in classical instrumental performances with both percussion and non-percussion categories clinching 1st place. Their vocal talents shone bright as they captured the top position in Group Song Indian.

Creative expressions were celebrated with wins in Mime and On-the-Spot Painting both securing 1st place, alongside victories in Clay Modeling and Rangoli art. GNDU’s performance was not limited to these achievements; several other events showcased exceptional talent. 

A commendable second place was secured for Folk Dance and Cultural Procession. Western Vocal Solo along with Classical Dance earned third spots for their captivating presentations. Similarly, in Collage: 3rd Position, Classical Vocal Solo: 4th, Light Vocal Solo: 4th,  Folk Orchestra: 4th, One Act Play: 4th, Skit: 4th,  Cartooning: 4th,  Poster Making: 5th, Mehandi: 5th, Quiz: 5th were included in these competitions

The leadership played an instrumental role as did faculty members from affiliated colleges including APJ College of Fine Arts Jalandhar, Lyllpur Khalsa College Jalandhar, Khalsa College Amritsar, BBK DAV College Amritsar & SL Bawa DAV College Batala who rallied behind our talented student performers. 

This year’s festival not only highlighted Guru Nanak Dev University's rich tradition of fostering cultural arts but also reinforced its commitment to nurturing creativity among students.
