CBSA, CGC Landran Hosts ‘B-Starter’ Season 8 to Foster Entrepreneurial Innovation

The department of MBA, Chandigarh Business School of Administration (CBSA), CGC Landran in association with ACIC Rise Association, CGC Landran, organized the eight edition of its annual entrepreneurship-focused event ‘B-Starter.’ 

The two-day event which saw the participation of more than 300 students divided in 32 teams aimed to provide a unique platform for budding entrepreneurs and innovators to hone their entrepreneurial acumen.

Participating teams had to go through multiple rounds comprising idea-pitching, presentations followed by a rigorous questioning round by a panel of judges. A total of seven teams were shortlisted to compete in the competition’s finale on day two.  

Eminent personalities gracing the occasion on day one included Mr. Abhishek Chauhan, Co-founder of Welncubate, who delivered an insightful session on pitching techniques, offering valuable industry insights to help participants enhance their entrepreneurial acumen. 

Day two featured Mr. Salil Kaplash, Startup Coordinator for Startup Punjab and Ms. Ritika Singh, Founder & CEO of Kontent Factory, as esteemed guests of honour. The dignitaries were welcomed by Dr. Ramandeep Saini, Director-Principal, CBSA, Dr. Ruchi Singla, Director R&D, CGC Landran, faculty members and students of the institution. 

Day two of the event saw the seven shortlisted teams presenting their ideas in an engaging session, receiving critical feedback and strategic insights from the panel. The winning ideas were judged on the basis of their innovative quotient, economic and social viability, cost effectiveness and ease of implementation. 

The first prize was bagged by team Webtechfly for their AI-integrated Vertical Take-Off and Landing (VTOL) Drone designed for multiple industry applications helping enhance aerial mobility, security and emergency response. 

Team Brickcraft bagged the second prize for its innovative idea of eco-friendly, cooling bricks made from crop residue which can help reduce the need for artificial air conditioning. Team AllureBio won the third prize for devising a system which would allow waste bins to convert biodegradable waste into energy through anaerobic digestion or thermal conversion. 

The energy thus produced, could be used for small-scale applications such as powering streetlights, or charging devices. Reflecting on the event, Dr. Ramandeep Saini said, “Fostering entrepreneurship is a key focus at CGC Landran and B-Starter exemplifies our commitment to nurturing innovative minds. 

The creativity and determination displayed by the participants highlight a promising future for the startup ecosystem. Events like these are crucial in equipping students with the skills, confidence and mentorship needed to transform ideas into successful ventures.” 

The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Charu Mehan, HoD MBA, CBSA, CGC Landran, acknowledging the efforts of faculty, judges and students in making ‘B-Starter’, Season 8, a grand success.
