Cabinet Minister Punjab Mr Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal has condemned the mistreatment of 104 Indians deported from America, citing gross human rights violations. The youths were allegedly handcuffed and chained during their 17-18 hour flight from America to Amritsar on a military cargo plane.
Dhaliwal urged the Modi government to seek assistance from Indian embassies in America for the depatriation of Indians living illegally in the US. He emphasized that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and External Affairs Minister Jaishankar should communicate to the US government that deported Indians should be handed over to Indian embassies for safe return.
The Cabinet Minister also questioned the choice of Amritsar airport for deportation, labeling it as politically motivated. He appreciated the district administration's efforts in providing hospitality to the deported Indians, ensuring their safe return home.
Dhaliwal appealed to the BJP government to take responsibility for protecting the interests of Indian youths and engage with the US government to prevent such incidents in the future.
