The District Development Commissioner (DDC) Pulwama, Dr. Basharat Qayoom, on Tuesday chaired a meeting to review the action plan for the effective implementation of the scheme aimed at the Revival, Restoration, Preservation and Maintenance of Ancient Cultural Heritage in Pulwama.
The chair was briefed on the initiatives undertaken for the revival, restoration and preservation of the district’s architectural and cultural heritage. It was highlighted that significant progress had been made, including the approval, allotment and execution of six projects.
Furthermore, multiple Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) submitted by the concerned agencies were approved and recommended by the designated committee. Also, 30 new proposals were discussed during the meeting and the executing departments were directed to prepare DPRs and present them before the committee within three weeks.
Dr. Qayoom emphasised the need to consult experts for the efficient and transparent execution of projects, ensuring that the aesthetic and historical significance of the heritage sites is preserved.
He urged the officials from the Archives Department to work in close coordination with the district administration, assuring full support from the administration to maximize the benefits and outcomes of the initiative.
During the meeting, the Executive Engineer (EXEN) of the R&B Pulwama Division informed that the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the restoration of Mehjoor Ghar had been submitted. He assured that the restoration work would be executed with the utmost dedication and precision.
The chair was also apprised about the ongoing restoration of various temples and shrines across the district, undertaken with due consideration for their historical heritage and religious significance.
The meeting was attended by Chief Education Officer(CEO), Pulwama, District Statistics &Evaluation Officer(DSEO), Pulwama, Executive Engineerr R&B Division Pulwama/Awantipora along with concerned AEEs, Representative of Archives Department and other concerned officers from various departments.
