DC Srinagar Dr. Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat Reviews Operationalization of Rehabilitation & Counseling Centre for Substance Abuse Victims

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Dr. Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat today chaired a meeting of  senior Health Officials here  to review the progress on the operationalization of the Rehabilitation and Counseling Centre for youth affected by substance abuse established at Sanat Nagar.

The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Syed Ahmad Kataria, Chief Planning Officer Fayaz Ahmad Dar, Chief Medical officer, Dr Tahir Sajad, District Social Welfare Officer Dr. Mukhtar Ahmad, Chief Education Officer, Ms. Shabeena,  Incharge Drug De-Addiction Centre GMC, Dr. Yasir Rather, and other senior Officers.  

At the outset, the Deputy Commissioner conducted a detailed review of the progress towards making the Centre fully functional and operational. He finalized the requirements of manpower, paramedical staff, security and sanitation, baseline investigation labs, and other essential materials for the centre to make it functional as soon as possible.

On the occasion, the DC stressed the importance of ensuring proper functioning and utilization of the centre in collaboration with the Social Welfare Department, Health Department, and IMHANS to achieve the intended goals.

He emphasized that the purpose of the Rehabilitation and Counselling Centre is to provide comprehensive rehabilitation services to youth affected by substance abuse and facilitate their reintegration into society. 

DC directed the officers to take the necessary steps to operationalize the OPD facility at the Centre at the earliest, enabling immediate rehabilitation and counseling services for substance abuse victims.  

Pertinent to mention that, the rehabilitation & Counselling facility for victims of substance abuse at Sanant Nagar is, in addition, to the facilities available at SMHS Hospital, IMHAANS and JVC Hospital to provide rehabilitation and counselling services for substance abuse victims.
