Jalandhar Rural Police Crackdown On Drugs And Street Crime Continues, 3 Held

Jalandhar Rural Police achieved three breakthroughs with the arrest of three persons including two drug paddlers and recovery of narcotic pills along with a stolen vehicle in separate cases on February 1 and 2, 2025. The arrested accused have been identified as Gurpreet Singh son of Gurmukh Singh, resident of NA-97 Mandir Wali Street, Mohalla Kishanpura, Jalandhar in the vehicle theft case; Kulbir alias Biru son of Charanjit, resident of Hirapur, PS Maksuda, Jalandhar who was caught with 48 narcotic pills; and Jagtar Singh alias Jagga son of Satnam Singh, resident of Litta, PS Bhulath, District Kapurthala from whom 97 narcotic pills were recovered.

Senior Superintendent of Police Harkamalpreet Singh Khakh said that all three cases were cracked based on specific inputs. The operations led to the recovery of a stolen Activa within two hours of the theft report, followed by the seizure of narcotic pills in two separate cases.

The operations were conducted under the supervision of. Jasrup Kaur Bath, IPS, SP (Investigation), . Surinder Pal Dhogadi, PPS, DSP Kartarpur, along with SI Balbir Singh, SHO Maqusdan Police Station and his team.

The first operation recovered a stolen Activa following a complaint. In two separate operations near Nangal Manohar area, the police teams intercepted the drug paddlers, leading to the recovery of pink-colored narcotic pills. In this regard, three  separate FIRs have been registered at police station Maqusdan.

The vehicle theft case has been registered under FIR No. 304(2) dated 01.02.2025 under sections 281, 126(2), 351(2), 191(3), 190 BNS. The drug seizure cases have been documented under FIR No. 20 dated 01.02.2025 and FIR No. 22 dated 02.02.2025, both under sections 22-61-85 of the NDPS Act.

Preliminary investigation indicates possible connections to larger networks. The police are investigating the source and intended recipients of the narcotic pills. The arrested accused will be produced in the local court and their remand will be taken to check their forward and backward linkages.

“We have a zero-tolerance policy against drugs and street crime. Anyone involved in such activities will face strict legal action," said SSP Khakh, requesting citizens to share information about suspicious activities with the police.
