Haryana's Energy, Transport and Labor Minister, Sh. Anil Vij said that "The work to reinforce the Tangri River embankment (Ambala) towards Rampur-Sarsehri has begun. We assure the people of the region that everyone will be protected from the waters of the Tangri."

Sh. Vij was addressing the people after laying the foundation stone for the project to raise and reinforce the Tangri River embankment at a cost of ₹2.67 crore from Rampur-Sarsehri to Jagadhri Road in Ambala.

Anil Vij said that previously, Rampur-Sarsehri and other areas suffered significant damage due to river water floods. As an initial measure, a temporary embankment was constructed, but now, it is being raised by 1.5 feet and reinforced with stone pitching and soil.

A permanent embankment will be built from Jagadhri Road to Chandpura. However, some people near Chandpura are unwilling to give their land for the embankment, and efforts are being made to convince them. All necessary arrangements are being made to ensure water does not enter this area.

Some people do not want us to succeed and are trying to create obstacles to flood the people, but we will not let them succeed : Anil Vij

Cabinet Minister Anil Vij emphasized that protecting these areas from flooding is a top priority. Some individuals are trying to obstruct the work to prevent success, but their attempts will not be allowed to succeed.

An embankment will be built from Jagadhri Road to the railway line so that not a single drop of Tangri River water enters the city : Anil Vij

Vij also mentioned a future plan to deepen the Tangri River bed to prevent water from reaching Kardhan, Nangal, Prabhu Prem Puram, and other colonies. Work is being carried out as approvals are obtained.

An embankment will also be constructed from Jagadhri Road to the railway line to ensure that no river water enters the city. Additionally, the Tangri River will be deepened further, as a significant amount of sand has accumulated due to a lack of mining. Once permission is granted by the mining department, the river will be deepened by 15-20 feet.

A road was built along the Tangri River towards Babyal for flood protection; now, it will be widened as well : Anil Vij

Cabinet Minister Anil Vij highlighted that the Tangri River is a seasonal river flowing through the city, often causing destruction during heavy rains. He approved an embankment on the Babyal side of the river, where a road has been constructed from Ramgarh Majra to Mahesh Nagar Pump House.

This road is now being widened and will be connected to GT Road via an underpass beneath the Ambala-Saharanpur railway line, ensuring it remains operational even during floods.

Ordered the closure of a drain flowing into the Tangri River from Ramgarh Majra

During the program, Cabinet Minister Anil Vij directed the Ambala Cantt SDM to close a drain flowing into the Tangri River from Ramgarh Majra, as it could potentially allow river water to enter the city. He also instructed officials to improve the drainage system in the area.

Additionally, he announced that the tender for reinforcing the remaining section of the Mahesh Nagar Drain has been completed, with 24 crore rupees already transferred from the Municipal Council to the Irrigation Department.

Earlier, Anil Vij received a warm welcome from party workers and local residents upon his arrival in Rampur-Sarsehri for the program. He then laid the foundation stone for the embankment reinforcement project.

Dignitaries present at the program included Ambala Cantt SDM Satinder Siwach, Irrigation Department SE Manish Bhardwaj, BJP leaders Jasbir Singh Jassi, Fakir Chand Saini, Vijender Chauhan, Mohit Kaushik, Ravi Budhiraja, Harsh Bindra, Rajiv Dimple, Narendra Rana, Shyam Sunder Arora, Sanjeev Soni, Rambabu Yadav, Sanjeev Walia, Sudarshan Singh Sehgal, Aarti Sehgal, Balwant Singh, Rohtash Saini, Jitendra Virk, Kuldeep Saini, Deepak Bhasin, Madan Lal Sharma and several other esteemed personalities.
