Deputy Commissioner (DC) Reasi Nidhi Malik conducted a comprehensive review of the School Education Department today to ensure effective implementation of the educational schemes and initiatives in the district.
The review encompassed assessment of staff strength in schools, execution of works under District Capex/UT, besides implementation of mid-day meal program, scholarship schemes and Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan.
Chief Education Officer (CEO) Deepak Gupta presented a detailed overview of the department's functioning and achievements. Zonal Education Officers (ZEOs) were asked to conduct field visits at least three to four days a week and develop a standardized format for daily reporting to enhance accountability and ensure the smooth functioning of schools.
Nidhi Malik emphasized the need for proper monitoring of infrastructure, electricity, and the quality of mid-day meals being provided to students. She stressed on creating a conducive learning environment.
The DC also instructed the CEO to collaborate with the Lead District Manager (LDM) to facilitate the opening of bank accounts for all students, enabling them to access scholarship benefits seamlessly.
Strict action was mandated against non-performing or frequently absent teachers to maintain discipline and productivity in the system. Additionally, the Deputy Commissioner directed for utilization of available grants to procure books for primary students to improve their reading skills.
She urged the Education Department to work in coordination with the Planning Department to prepare detailed and well-structured reports, including components and field visit outcomes.
