At the Sadqi Border Post on the India-Pakistan border, where the ceremonial Retreat Ceremony is held daily, the Indian National Flag will now soar higher than Pakistan’s national flag. A project to install a 60-meter-high tricolor has been initiated, with the foundation stone laid today by MLA Narinder Pal Singh Sawna.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA Sawna stated that under the leadership of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Punjab Government aims to elevate Fazilka's prominence as a hub for tourism while honoring national pride. This project, which represents India’s national glory, is set to cost ₹75 lakh and will be completed within four months.
Currently, Pakistan’s national flag stands at approximately 50 meters on their side of the border. Once the project is completed, India’s tricolor will stand taller at 60 meters, symbolizing national pride and unity. MLA Sawna extended his gratitude to Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann for approving this significant project, noting that its foundation being laid on Republic Day adds a special significance.
He remarked, “When our tricolor flies the highest at Sadqi Border, it will be a moment of pride for the entire nation.” MLA Sawna’s wife, Khushboo Sawan Sukhha Sawna, was also present at the event. Additionally, BSF DIG Vijay Kumar, Commandant Karuna Nidhi Tripathi, Assistant Commandant Jatinder Kumar Singh, Executive Engineer of Panchayati Raj Public Works Department Fazilka, Rajesh Grover, SDO Manpreet Kamboj, and Chairman Parmjeet Singh Nurshah, among others, graced the occasion.
This initiative will further establish the Sadqi Border Post as a symbol of national pride and a prominent landmark on India’s western frontier,.
