District Development Commissioner (DDC) Reasi Nidhi Malik on Friday chaired a high-level meeting to review the functioning of the Tourism Department and assess the status of its assets.

Speaking at the meeting, the DDC emphasized the need for identifying untapped potential tourism sites in the district and directed the Assistant Director Tourism to initiate efforts to expand and diversify the tourism landscape.

Underscoring the importance of utilizing unused tourism assets, the DC urged the department to make them fully operational through concerted efforts. "Every investment in tourism infrastructure must translate into tangible benefits for the region," DDC Reasi.

She also directed the AD Tourism to organize events around the iconic highest railway bridge near Village Khouri. The initiative aims to increase awareness of the site’s historical and engineering significance, attract greater tourist footfall and create livelihood opportunities for local villagers.

To amplify the district’s tourism potential, the DDC recommended producing short videos and films showcasing various destinations. She stressed the need for launching an Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) campaign to promote these sites effectively through social media platforms. ADDC Reasi Sukhdev Samyal, CPO Narinder Kumar, ACR, SDMs, AD Tourism were present.
