The Department of Student Welfare (DSW), CGC Landran, has kick started a weeklong Traffic Awareness Campaign for road safety as part of its Institutional Social Responsibility (ISR) initiative. The campaign is being conducted in collaboration with Chandigarh based NGO, Traffic Awareness Organisation and the Mohali Traffic Police.
Students including NCC cadets from CGC Landran will be participating in this noble initiative. The event commenced with the installation of banners, signs and traffic rules displays across the college campus to educate students about road safety.
A highlight of the campaign was the theatrical performance by the NGO, delivering impactful messages on the importance of following traffic rules. Orientation sessions by ASI Janak Raj of the Mohali Traffic Police and Wing Commander JS Khokhar, Wing Commander Grewal, President and Vice President, (respectively) of the NGO Traffic Awareness organization, further engaged students with unique approaches on road safety, responsible driving and traffic rules.
ASI Bhupinder Singh brought a creative touch to traffic education by incorporating songs and prose into his presentation, making the message more relatable and memorable. Dr. P.N. Hrisheekesha, Campus Director, CGC Landran, added, "Traffic safety is a critical issue that affects everyone.
Through this initiative, we are not only spreading awareness but also encouraging our students to become active participants in making our roads safer. I commend the efforts of the students, staff, and our collaborators for making this campaign a success."
Dr. Gagandeep Bhullar, Dean, Student Welfare, CGC Landran, said, "This campaign is a significant step in inculcating a sense of responsibility among students toward road safety. By engaging through these interactive and hands-on activities, we aim to create conscientious citizens who prioritize traffic discipline and road safety."
As part of this weeklong campaign, students from CGC Landran will participate in a series of roadshows under the able guidance of Traffic Police at three key locations in Mohali including 3B2, Sohana Chowk, Godrej Chowk and CP67.
The students will display placards and engage commuters to raise awareness about road safety, helmet usage and the dangers of drunk driving. The roadshows will be graced by the presence of DSP Traffic Mohali, adding further credibility to the initiative.
Additionally, CGC students will also assist in traffic management for a day at key traffic junctions, providing hands-on support to the Mohali Traffic Police while experiencing the challenges of maintaining road discipline. CGC Landran is committed to lead by example in its mission to creating a safer road experience for all stakeholders helping them become more responsible and aware citizens.
