The Punjab government has launched the anti-drug helpline 9779-100-200 and WhatsApp chatbot to fulfill the objective of a drug-free Punjab. This initiative of the government is an important step to make the common people aware against drugs and to help the police.

Through this helpline and chatbot, people can report drug-related issues to the police. They can ask for any kind of help and can get information related to treatment. This facility has been designed keeping in mind the privacy so that people can share their problems with the police without any fear.

This information was given by DIG Rupnagar Range. S. Harcharan Singh Bhullar, while addressing the village panchs, sarpanchs, and common people during the police public meeting organized in Sirhind under Mission Sampark, launched to ensure the cooperation of the common people in the campaign against drugs.

He said that the main objective of this helpline and chatbot is to spread awareness against the evils of drugs and provide assistance to the people suffering from the problem of drugs. S. Bhullar said that police is taking strict action against the drug peddlers and also providing free treatment to the youth trapped in the grip of drugs and giving them an opportunity to live as good citizens in the society so that drugs can be completely eradicated from the state.

He appealed to all the citizens to inform the police without any fear about the drug dealers and people caught in the grip of drugs, their information will be kept confidential by the police. He said that the meaningful results of the Mission Sampark are coming out, and so far the police have arrested the big drug dealers and also confiscated their properties.

S. Bhullar said that the cooperation of parents is very important to eradicate drugs from society, because often parents do not tell the people openly about the bad habits of their children. Due to which the situation gets worse.

He said that parents should openly coordinate with the police about the bad habits of their children so that drugs can be eradicated from the roots. He also said that children below the age of 18 should not be allowed to drive vehicles.

SSP Dr. Ravjot Grewal said that Mission Sampark has been started to further strengthen the relationship between the public and the police so that the public can inform the police about drug dealers without any fear.

She said that special efforts are being made to bring the drug users who have been caught by the police with small quantities of drugs into normal life and to get them out of the legal process and under Section 64-A of the NDPS Act. 07 youths of the district have been freed from drugs under this provision.

She said that under this Act, the people caught with small quantities of drugs have to give an assurance in the honorable court that they are ready to give up drugs. After that, the police get that person treated and get him out of the legal process.

She appealed to the people on this occasion that to avoid cyber crime, their OTP should not be shared with anyone and to follow traffic rules to avoid road accidents. On this occasion, suggestions of the people were heard to eradicate drugs.

In this police public meeting, SP (D) Rakesh Yadav, DSP Fatehgarh Sahib Sukhnaz Singh, DSP Haritesh Kaushik, DSP Nikhil Garg, SHO Police Station Sirhind Sandeep Singh, SHO Police Station Mulepur Rajwant Singh, SHO Police Station Fatehgarh Sahib Malkit Singh and Police Chowki Sirhind Mandi in-charge Sanjeev Kumar along with police personnel and many dignitaries from villages and cities were present.
