The Deputy Commissioner Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal today reviewed the progress of ongoing development work at Burlton Park and directed officials to accelerate the pace of work. He emphasized transforming the park into a sports hub as well as a major attraction of the city. During a meeting held at the District Administrative Complex, attended by Municipal Commissioner Gautam Jain and officials from various departments, the Deputy Commissioner reviewed the current status of beautification, cleanliness, lighting arrangements, greenery, and boundary wall construction at the park.

He instructed that all development tasks be completed within the stipulated timeframe. Dr. Aggarwal shared that 30 floodlights have been installed at Burlton Park to ensure adequate lighting during evenings, enabling players to practice even at night. He instructed officials to promptly address any additional lighting requirements and speed up the installation of streetlights.

He also directed the installation of entry and exit gates by the end of this week emphasizing the deployment of dedicated personnel to ensure timely opening and closing of the gates to facilitate smooth access for players and visitors. While inspecting the progress of paintings on the park’s boundary walls, the Deputy Commissioner stated that approximately 40 paintings have been completed both inside and outside the boundary.

He directed the Municipal Corporation to cover the entire boundary wall with creative and attractive artwork to enhance the park’s aesthetics. He also highlighted plans to promote art within the park by installing sculptures made from recycled materials.

Dr. Aggarwal further reviewed the Municipal Corporation’s waste management efforts near the cricket stadium and the progress of MRF (Material Recovery Facility) processes. Additionally, the Deputy Commissioner issued instructions to develop green belts on both sides of the park’s exterior, construct walking tracks, ensure proper water arrangements, build new toilets, and repair existing ones.
