LPU Hosts the Annual Event for Urban Planners NOSPlan Convention 2025

Lovely Professional University (LPU) hosted the 26th Annual NOSPlan Convention 2025 for Urban Planners, organized  by NOSPlan India in collaboration with the American Planning Association (APA) International Division. The three-day event attracted over 600+ participants from 19 of India’s top architecture, planning, designing, and engineering institutes. 

This grand convention served as a dynamic platform for idea exchange and conversations about the future of cities and communities.  The convention, themed “Dakshatva”, focused on sustainability, innovation, and excellence in urban development. This year’s theme emphasized resource-efficient design, data-driven solutions, resilient infrastructure, and sustainability in urban planning.

The event's Chief Guest, Dr. Col. Rashmi Mittal, Pro-Chancellor of LPU, stated, "NOSPlan brings together young, innovative minds from across the country, offering a platform to think, innovate, learn, and build networks. Use it wisely." Dr. Mittal highlighted the pivotal role of LPU’s School of Architecture and Design in nurturing the future leaders who will shape the urban landscapes of tomorrow, noting, "Great planners design the future". 

The school stands at the forefront of sustainable urban planning, focusing on sustainable solutions that align with India’s growth trajectory. LPU’s vision is to empower students to tackle the challenges of tomorrow’s cities and contribute to a resilient, future-ready India. This year, The School of Planning and Architecture, Delhi (SPAD) claimed the Overall NOSPlan Convention Trophy by winning the Overall Planning Trophy and the Overall Entertainment Trophy. 

Anna University, Chennai was awarded the Overall Publication Trophy, while the School of Planning and Architecture, Vijayawada secured the Overall Gaming Trophy. The event was divided into four key areas: planning, publication, entertainment, and gaming, each celebrating the success of the top-performing teams. 

With over 20 events spanning academic, cultural, and entertainment activities, the convention fostered both collaboration and competition among participants. Competitions like Urban Canvas, Crowd Craft, Fashion Show, Mobility Mastery, Plan & Paint, and Sonic Showdown showcased creativity and innovation, offering attendees captivating performances and groundbreaking ideas.

The convention featured eminent dignitaries, including Dr. Jeet Kumar, Retired Chief Town Planner, Chandigarh; TPR Joginder Singh, Retired Chief Town Planner, Jammu and Kashmir; Dr. Ashwini Luthra, Editor and Secretary, ITPI; Dr. Sanjay Modi, Pro-Vice Chancellor, LPU; and Dr. Ar. Atul Singla, Head of School, Lovely School of Architecture and Design, LPU, and Er. Manpreet Singh, Head of Department, Department of Planning. Their valuable insights sparked enriching discussions about the future of urban planning in India and the challenges and opportunities it presents.

NOSPlan is an organization dedicated to promoting excellence in urban and regional planning. It provides a space where planning students can discuss their innovative ideas and visions for sustainable urban development. This year’s NOSPlan Convention reaffirmed the essential role of young planners in shaping the future of Indian cities. 

Through competitions, discussions, and workshops, the event empowered students to showcase their talent and innovative ideas for building better, more sustainable urban spaces.
