Deputy Commissioner Mrs. Sakshi Sawhney has directed officials to take strict action against those responsible for setting garbage heaps on fire, citing environmental pollution concerns. This directive was issued during a meeting with the Commissioner Municipal Corporation and Pollution Department officials to discuss the city's cleanliness system.
To prevent fires at the Bhagtanwala dump site, the Deputy Commissioner instructed the Commissioner Municipal Corporation to expedite the installation of CCTV cameras and methane gas detectors. The boundary wall around the dump will also be completed soon.
Commissioner Municipal Corporation Mr. Gulpreet Singh assured that measures are being taken to stop fires at the dump site, including a submersible bore and new pipes. The number of bio-randomization machines has been increased, and door-to-door garbage collection has been accelerated.
