Deputy Commissioner Aashika Jain today assigned various tasks to the departments for gearing up for Republic Day Celebrations scheduled to be held at Shaheed Major Harminderpal Singh Government College, Phase 6, Mohali on January 26, 2025.
Taking a preparatory meeting of all the stakeholder departments at the District Administrative Meeting Hall, SAS Nagar, Mohali, the Deputy Commissioner while expressing concern over the school children's performance of cultural items during the chilly weather and rehearsals before that, directed that all the participants from government schools should be provided with winter warners.
The District Education Officer (Secondary Education), Dr Ginni Duggal, urged the Deputy Commissioner to increase the existing number of winter warmers from 1500 to 2000. Deputy Commissioner, while allocating various tasks to the department heads, said that to maintain the grace of National Day of Importance, no stone should be left unturned to ensure the grand success of the Republic Day Celebrations.
Starting from Cleaning and repairing approach roads to the R Day venue, the venue ground and stage and other set-up, she emphasised refreshments and medical aid to the students during the rehearsal, too, other than on Programme Day.
Chief Minister Field Officer Deepankar Garg urged to finalise the cultural items that have to be performed there. Similarly, the District Development and Panchayat Officer, Baljinder Singh Grewal asked to assist the Additional Deputy Commissioner (Rural Development) in preparing tableaus based on the achievements/welfare schemes being run by the departments.
She said that before the full dress rehearsal that has to be performed on January 24, 2025, at College Ground, all the arrangements should be in place. She said that the students should also be given breakfast/refreshments on Republic Day before participating in the function and the food must be sampled by the Food Safety Officials.
The Deputy Commissioner said that the Gallantry Award winner ex-army persons/families would also participate in the function and the District Defence Welfare Office to ensure the participation of such persons/families decently.
The Deputy Commissioner also asked all the departments to send in names and details of their best-performing employees by 10th of January to felicitate them for their extraordinary performance.
The meeting was attended by ADC (G) Viraj S Tidke, Commissioner of Municipal Corporation Mohali, T Benith, ADC (Rural Development) Sonam Chaudhary, SDM Mohali Damandeep Kaur, CMFO Deepankar Garg, Assistant Commissioner (G) Dr Ankita Kansal, Civil Surgeon Dr Sangeeta Jain and other officers of all the departments.
