Talwandi Sabo , 06 Jan 2025

Celebrating the sacred Parkash Purab of tenth Sikh Guru Sri Guru Gobind Singh ji, Youth Akali Dal (YAD) organized a successful 'Meri Dastar, Meri Shaan' camp at the historic Takhat Sri Damdama Sahib, Talwandi Sabo today. Shiromani Akali Dal President Sukhbir Singh Badal graced the occasion, emphasizing the significance of preserving Sikh values and honoring the legacy of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji.

Appreciating the Youth wing for its initiative the former Deputy CM said " 'Meri Dastaar Meri Shaan' is a wonderful initiative of our Youth Akali Dal to raise awareness and bring our youngsters of Punjab back to their roots and back to Sikhi. For us, the turban is a sacred crown that Guru Sahib has blessed us all with and it is our duty to preserve our culture and religious beliefs.

This turban was given to us by our Gurus after numerous struggles and thus I applaud YAD's dedication to preserving our Sikh traditions. Initiatives like 'Meri Dastar, Meri Shaan' are crucial in shaping the future of our community, and I urge our youth to actively participate in it." Sukhbir Singh Badal further said, "It gives me immense pride in saying that Shiromani Akali Dal is the only political party that is wholeheartedly dedicated and working for Sikhism and our workers are also dedicated to Sikh Panth.

That is the reason that our Youth Wing has successfully hosted numerous camps of 'Meri Dastaar Meri Shaan'." Under the leadership of YAD President Sarabjeet Singh Jhinjer and the efforts of YAD District Presidents Kamaldeep Singh & Hasrat Singh Kular, hundreds of devotees were tied turbans at Sri Damdama Sahib here, symbolizing Sikh pride and heritage.

"On this sacred day, we honor the legacy of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji who gave us Khalsa Panth and Sikhi that we are trying to promote. Our 'Meri Dastar, Meri Shaan' initiative aims to inspire youth to take pride in their Sikh heritage and values," said Sarabjeet Singh Jhinjer, YAD President.

Jhinjer further informed that, "Over 25,000 youngsters and children have been tied free turbans till now, through 'Dastaran De Langar' (Free Turban Tying Camps) held at numerous places in Punjab. It has only been possible due to Guru Sahib's blessings that we have successfully been able to conduct these free camps and many youngsters have promised us in these camps that they will start tying turbans on a regular basis, and many of them have successfully done so."

Manjeet Kaur, a resident of Bathinda who had come to pay her obeisance with her family said, "I count myself very lucky that today I got my Son's Dastarbandi done at this sacred place on the very special occasion of Parkash Purab of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji.  This initiative of tying free turbans by the Youth Akali Dal is a very inspiring step and I thank them for this and I also hope that all these kids that are getting turbans tied today will now take a pledge to always wear turbans."

Sarabjeet Singh Jhinjer was accompanied by Ravi Preet Singh Sidhu Constituency Incharge Talwandi Sabo, Akashdeep Singh Middu Khera, Harinder Singh Hinda Mehraj Constituency Incharge Rampura Phool, District President Shiromani Akali Dal Balkar Singh Brar, Shiromani Committee Member Mohan Singh Bangi, Gurpreet Singh Jhabbar, Gurpreet Singh Chahal, Hanish Bansal, Ranjot Singh Lambi, Chitveer Singh Jira, Gurwinder Singh Ghumeyara and other party workers.
