27th meeting of District Environmental Committee and 31st meeting of Action Plan for Non-Attainment City Patiala was held under the Chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner, Patiala Dr. Preeti Yadav. The meeting was attended by ADC (UD) Navreet Kaur Sekhon, ADC (RD) Anuprita Johal, RTO Naman Markan, EO, MCs; and officers from all stakeholder departments.
During the meeting, the action taken by various departments with regard to various activities mentioned in the District Environment Plan was discussed in detail. This included the management of solid waste in rural and urban areas, Clean Air Patiala initiative, remediation of polluted river/drain stretches, rejuvenation of village ponds, performance of existing sewage treatment plants and reuse of treated wastewater, status of installation of proposed sewage treatment plants, and enforcement regarding the ban on Single Use Plastic (SUP) items and China Dor, among other topics.
After thorough deliberations, the Deputy Commissioner, Patiala strictly directed the officers present in the meeting to ensure timely and effective implementation of the discussed actions and that all objectives are being met in a timely manner. Ms. Navreet Kaur Sekhon ADC (UD) directed all MCs/NPs to ensure strict compliance of the solid waste management in their areas of jurisdiction.
Er. Gurkaran Singh, Environmental Engineer, PPCB urged all the heads of the department siting in the meeting to make their respective offices plastic free zone. In the said meeting, Er. Mohit Bisht, Assistant Environmental Engineer and Er. Dharamvir Singh, Assistant Environmental Engineer, PPCB were also present.
She underscored the critical nature of these environmental initiatives and urged all stakeholders to commit to the collective goal of a cleaner, healthier Patiala.
