Revenue, Tribal Development and Horticulture Minister Jagat Singh Negi inaugurated the Him Mahotsav organised by Himachal Pradesh Government in collaboration with Ministry of MSME in New Delhi late last evening. Wife of Revenue Minister Sushila Negi was also present on the occasion.

The Mahotsav being organised from 1st to 15th January 2025 at Dilli Haat where as many as 60 stalls are erected exhibiting Himachal handicrafts and weavers products by artisans. Himachali Dham and Himachali folk were the special attraction of the event. The Department of Tourism, Language, Art and Culture, Himachal Pradesh State Handicrafts, Handloom Corporation Ltd. (HPSHHCL) have jointly organised the event.

Speaking on the occasion, Jagat Singh Negi said that such events should be organised in other states and cities to promote the unique culture of the state and exhibit its products which were gaining popularity globally. Such events go a long way in acquainting people of NCR with exquisite handloom and handicrafts of Himachal Pradesh and help popularizing the folk music and folk dances around the globe. 

He also lauded the efforts of HPSHHCL for the initiative and for promoting the local artisans and encouraging them on a platform they deserve. The Minister urged the people to visit Himachal Pradesh which was emerging as the most favorite tourist destination in the country. ACS Industries RD Nazeem in his welcome address briefed about the initiatives of the state government to promote the local handicrafts as well as the weavers and artisans. 

He said that Him Mahotsav was being organised for the second time in the National capital due to encouraging response it received last year from far and wide. The objective of the event was to showcase the culture, craft and cuisine of Himachal Pradesh in Delhi. Himachal Handicrafts and Handloom Excellence Awards were presented by the Minister to Artisans for their distinguished work. 

In Traditional crafts preservation category award was presented to O.P Malhotra, Ritu Dhiman and Poonam and Balveer (woodcrafts). In Innovative craftsmanship category awards were presented to Indira Devi (Kullvi whims) Isha (Traditional Jewellery). 

In Young artisans awards category Veer Singh (Metal Craft), Ajay Sharma (Handloom), Jagdeesh (Handloom ) were winners whereas Community impact Award was given to Anshul Malhotra and Rajan Minhas. A cultural programme was also presented by the Himachali artists on the occasion. Managing Director HPSHHCL Gandharva Rathore proposed the vote of thanks.

Chief Election Officer HP Nandita Gupta, Resident Commissioner Meera Mohanty, Joint Director MSME R K Bharti and senior officers of concerned departments were present on the occasion.
