Chamkaur Sahib , 21 Dec 2024

The Youth Akali Dal today organized a special "Meri Dastar, Meri Shaan" camp at Gurdwara Sri Katalgarh Sahib, Chamkaur Sahib. The camp was held to pay homage to the bravery and sacrifice of the Vadde Sahibzade and all the shaheeds of Chamkaur Jang.

Over 600 devotees who had gathered to pay their obeisance at the historic gurdwara sahib, were tied turbans as a symbol of pride and heritage. Senior Akali Dal leader Dr. Daljeet Singh Cheema and Ravinder Singh Khera, Core Committee member of the Youth Akali Dal, were the main persons behind this camp.

They emphasized the significance of preserving Sikh traditions and values, especially on this sacred day. "We are proud to honor the legacy of the Vadde Sahibzade and all the shaheeds who sacrificed their lives for our faith and freedom," said Dr. Cheema.

The Vadde Sahibzade, Baba Ajit Singh and Baba Jujhar Singh, were the elder sons of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji, who were martyred in the Battle of Chamkaur in 1705, fighting against the Mughal Empire's forces. Their sacrifice holds great significance in Sikh history, embodying the values of Sikhism, including courage, sacrifice, and devotion to one's faith.

The "Meri Dastar, Meri Shaan" initiative aims to promote Sikh pride, heritage, and unity among the community. The Youth Akali Dal has been consistently organizing such turban-tying camps across Punjab, promoting Sikh identity and community service.
