To provide rural youth with employment opportunities aligned with their skills, an employment fair under the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana was organized in Panipat on Monday by the Haryana State Rural Livelihood Mission. Haryana Development and Panchayat Minister, Mr. Krishan Lal Panwar, participated as the chief guest at the event.
Addressing the gathering, Minister Panwar said, “Approximately 60 industrial institutions and 25 training institutes have been invited under this initiative to register young men and women interested in skill training.” He also announced a new initiative under the Mission, the establishment of a Migration Support Center in Gurugram, which will provide comprehensive support, including accommodation, Aadhaar registration, banking services, and information about welfare schemes for Haryana youth working in Delhi-NCR.
Shared Markets for SHG Women to Promote Livelihoods
Mr. Panwar announced the opening of shared markets in every district to help Self-Help Group (SHG) women sell their products and improve their living standards. He said that this initiative had already been launched in Karnal, with plans to expand it to Fatehabad soon.
Haryana's Efforts for Youth, Farmers, Women, and the Backward Classes
The Minister said that the Haryana government is diligently working in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of a developed India, focusing on four pillars: youth, farmers, women, and backward classes. Employment fairs like the one in Panipat are part of the government's efforts to create more job opportunities for the youth and contribute to their social and economic progress.
Training and Employment Under DDU-GKY
The Minister said that through the Haryana State Rural Livelihood Mission, rural youth are being trained in sectors such as sewing, weaving, computer skills, healthcare, telecom, tourism, hospitality, logistics, and automotive.
51,410 rural youth have been trained so far, and over 28,000 have been employed.
Currently, 1,800 youth are receiving free training at 26 residential centers across the state.
Training courses range from 4 to 12 months and include free accommodation, meals, and learning materials, along with access to computer labs and tablets.
Encouraging SHG Women as Community Mobilizers
The Minister further shared that SHG women are working as community mobilizers under DDU-GKY, earning additional income while helping others benefit from the scheme. In Panipat alone, 16,012 women have been organized into 1,611 SHGs, supported by periodic training, 137 village organizations, and 9 cluster-level federations.
Inclusive Initiatives at the Fair
Mr. Panwar also recognized a differently-abled young woman at the fair, presenting her with a bouquet and encouraging her efforts. The fair underscored the state’s commitment to ensuring inclusive development and empowering all sections of society.
