Patiala , 16 Dec 2024

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab today launched its campaign for the upcoming Patiala Municipal Corporation elections. AAP, under the leadership of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and the vision of party convener Arvind Kejriwal, announced five major guarantees for the comprehensive development of Patiala.

These guarantees focus on improving public transportation, ensuring safety, providing clean water, modernizing waste management, and solving traffic congestion. AAP Punjab President Aman Arora addressed a press conference in Patiala on Monday.

AAP Punjab Working President Amansher Singh Sharry Kalsi, Ministers Dr Balbir and Varinder Goyal, MLA Ajitpal Singh Kohli, AAP leaders Inderjeet Singh Sandhu, Dr Sunny Ahluwalia etc. were also present.

Key Guarantees for Patiala

1. Modern and Clean Public Transportation

AAP promises to improve Patiala's public transport system by introducing 50 electric buses. To support this initiative, depots and charging stations will be developed across the city. Additionally, dedicated parking facilities will be created to reduce traffic congestion and provide safe spaces for women and children. Electric buses will also address the issue of pollution and traffic in Patiala.

2. Ensuring Public Safety through Technology

Safety and security in Patiala will be strengthened by installing CCTV cameras at key locations. These cameras will be integrated with a modern control center to ensure real-time monitoring and quick responses. AAP will also develop a huge parking facility near the bus stand to address various issues.

3. 24×7 Clean Drinking Water for Every Household

Recognizing the need for a reliable water supply, AAP guarantees 24×7 access to clean and safe drinking water for every household in Patiala. AAP’s plan includes modernizing the water supply system to ensure uninterrupted services.

Aman Arora, addressing the issue of water scarcity in Patiala, announced a detailed plan to enhance the city’s water supply infrastructure. He stated that the capacity of existing water treatment plants will be increased to meet the rising demand, and new plants will be installed at strategic locations to ensure an uninterrupted supply of clean drinking water.

Arora specifically mentioned that the city’s Million Liters per Day (MLD) capacity will be significantly expanded with new water treatment plants coming up in areas like Sher Majra and Sanaur. He emphasized that this initiative will resolve the persistent water shortage faced by residents and ensure that every household in Patiala has access to 24×7 clean and safe drinking water.

4. 100 crores for STP

To solve the growing waste and pollution issues, AAP will invest ₹100 crore in upgrading sewage treatment plants (STPs). These plants will be modernized to operate effectively and contribute to a clean and pollution-free Patiala.

5. Upgrading Roads and Reducing Traffic Congestion

AAP guarantees the construction of new roads and the repair of damaged and broken streets across Patiala. Aman Arora stated that the four-laning of the Rajpura-Sirhind link road will be expedited to improve connectivity and ease traffic.

Aman Arora said that AAP’s vision for Patiala prioritizes modern infrastructure, safety, and clean services. The party’s leadership highlighted its commitment to providing people-centric governance and ensuring that every promise is delivered transparently.

AAP leaders urged the residents of Patiala to give their support, emphasizing that implementation of these guarantees will begin immediately after the party’s mayor assumes office. "AAP’s government in Punjab has already shown how good governance can transform lives.

We are committed to making Patiala a modern, safe, and clean city," Arora stated. He urged the people to support the AAP in the municipal elections to accelerate the development and progress of Patiala city.
