The government will set up soil testing laboratories at village level for the convenience of farmers. In this regard, Deputy Commissioner Amarpreet Kaur Sandhu IAS held a meeting here. During the meeting, she said that five such soil testing laboratories will be set up in each block of the district so that farmers can get the facility of soil testing near their fields.

The Deputy Commissioner said that the Agriculture Department is the nodal department in this regard and these laboratories will be set up in cooperative societies. She said on this occasion that the Agriculture Department should also ensure that as many soil samples as possible are taken and tested so that farmers can use fertilizers as per the soil testing report and reduce their expenses.

She also instructed the department to make a map of the district based on the soil quality and then make a cropping pattern map accordingly. The Deputy Commissioner said that the establishment of these laboratories will be of great convenience to the farmers because when fertilizers are used based on soil testing, by doing so, farmers avoid the use of unnecessary fertilizers and the health of the soil also remains good.
