Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal today described Bharat Ratna Dr. BR Ambedkar as a great of entire humanity who gave us the constitution of world's largest democracy based on egaliitarian society by roping in the entire country in one thread. Addressing the gathering here at Red Cross Bhawan during a function to mark the 68th maha pri-nirvan diwas of the chief architect of the Indian Constitution, the Deputy Commissioner called Dr. Ambedkar a scholar, jurist, economist, social reformer and a statesman, who was highly revered by entire humanity for his far sightedness and humanitarian approach.
Dr. Aggarwal said that we all need to imbibe the philosophy and teachings of Baba Sahib in our life to carve out a harmonious society. He further mentioned that Dr. Ambedkar’s contribution in the growth of our country was so great that he will be remembered across the globe even after centuries.
Accompanied by Additional Deputy Commissioner Jasbir Singh, Superintendent of Police Sarabjit Rai, Deputy Commissioner paid floral tributes to Dr. B.R. Ambedkar. He also said that the life and philosophy this great national hero would ever inspire the people to render selfless service to the nation and its people.
He said that Dr. Ambedkar was not a leader of any particular sect or strata of the society rather he belonged to the entire humanity. Dr. Aggarwal said that Baba Sahib was a farsighted leader who worked tirelessly for well being of the weaker sections of society adding that above all he was a true votary of empowerment of women.
Urging students to follow and adopt the teachings of Baba Sahib, the Deputy Commissioner said that he would consider this program successful even if a single person adopt this teachings it will go a long way to carry forward his mission. He mentioned that the responsibility of carry forward the mission of Baba Sahib lies on the shoulders of our future generations, hence students must participate in such events.
The DC said that Dr. Ambedkar was one of the most towering personalities in the entire world adding that the students should follow his footsteps for carving out an egalitarian and harmonious society. He said that this great messiah of weaker sections was one of the most learned personalities in the world and had around 50,000 books in his personal library.
He said that though Dr. Ambedkar hailed from a humble family but his outstanding contribution has brought him in the league of global leaders. The Deputy Commissioner further said that Indian Constitution was the result Dr. Ambedkar’s hard work, dedication and far sightedness.
Dr. Aggarwal said that besides framing the constitution, Dr Ambedkar also laid the foundation of Reserve Bank of India. He called upon the students to make dedicated efforts for carving out an egalitarian society for securing justice and equality for all the sections of society rising above the petty considerations of caste, colour and creed.
Earlier, Additional Deputy Commissioner Mr. Jasbir Singh also recalled the remarkable contribution of Dr. Ambedkar in framing the constitution of free India. SP Sarabjit Rai also appealed to students to imbibe Dr. Ambedkar’s teachings in their daily life to become good citizen in their lives as these teachings will inculcate the humantarian values in them.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Commissioner honoured students of various schools who participated in different competitions about life and philosophy of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar. District Public Relations Officer Haaqam Thapar in his concluding note thanked the worthy Deputy Commissioner for gracing the occasion with his presence. He also thanked all the esteemed guests for their participation.
On the occasion, Secretary District Red Cross Society Inderdev Minhas, Dr. Surjit Lal, Dr. Ashok Sahota, Secretary District Bar Association Advocate Pritpal Singh, President Ex Serviceman Welfare Association Captain Gurmail Singh, Retired Judge Darshan Singh, DEO Gurinderjit Kaur, Deputy DEO Rajiv Joshi, and Election Kanoongo Sukhdev were also present.
