The continuous efforts being made by MP Gurjeet Singh Aujla got success today when permission was given to export jewellery from Sri Guru Ramdas Airport in Amritsar. Information in this regard has been given by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry today.
MP Gurjeet Singh Aujla said that he is very happy that due to his efforts, Amritsar is moving towards progress. MP Gurjeet Singh Aujla said that he was constantly receiving demands from traders to start the work of exporting gold and silver jewellery from Amritsar airport.
After which he started working seriously in this matter. In this regard, he first wrote emails to the Ministry of Commerce and Industry and then wrote a letter in the month of October and gave all the information.
In that letter, he had explained how this move would give a big leap to the trade of Amritsar. He said that he had also sent a request on behalf of the Swarnkar Sangh 1 Punjab. Which represents 1,500 traders and manufacturers of gold and silver jewellery in Amritsar.
He had told that Amritsar is a major hub of jewellery manufacturing, and more than 200 members of the association are exporters. However, due to the lack of export facilities at Sri Guru Ramdas International Airport, they have to depend on the ports of Delhi or Mumbai, resulting in increased transportation costs, time delays, logistics risks and additional expenses.
Allowing export of gold, silver jewellery and related items from Amritsar airport will reduce costs and transit time. The risk of transporting high-value goods will be reduced. Local trade will be promoted and the regional economy will be boosted.
Which will greatly benefit our traders and strengthen the local export ecosystem. He had also met Union Minister of Industry and Commerce Jitin Prasada regarding this matter and made him aware of the situation. After which he has received a letter today.
According to the letter, the Directorate has included Amritsar Airport in the list of Ports of Export through a public notice on 13-11-204. Amritsar Airport has been included in the list of 'Export Ports'. This addition facilitates the export of gold/silver/platinum jewellery and their items under the schemes for ease of doing business.
MP Aujla also thanked Minister Jitin Prasad for this and assured the people that Congress and every leader of party is committed to the people. He himself always dreams of taking Sri Amritsar to great heights and is striving to fulfil them.
