Under the patronage of Vice-Chancellor Prof. Raghavendra Prasad Tiwari, the faculty members of the Central University of Punjab (CU Punjab) — Dr. Shruti Kanga, Prof. Sandeep Kaur, and Prof. Zameerpal Kaur Sandhu Bajwa — have enhanced the university's global research profile and strengthened international academic collaborations during their recent visits as Visiting Fellows to prestigious institutions in Japan, Costa Rica, and the United Kingdom, respectively.

Their efforts have reinforced the university's commitment to global research partnerships and advancing research for sustainable development.  Dr. Shruti Kanga (Head of the Department of Geography) visited Japan from November 12–19, 2024, under the Indo-Japan Water-Energy Dynamics Project, funded by the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) and the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR). She collaborated with experts from leading Japanese institutions including officials from Institute for Global Environmental Strategies (IGES), and the University of Tokyo, participated in workshops organized at Tokyo Sustainability Forum, and explored innovative water and energy management strategies.

Her research focuses on addressing Bathinda's sustainability challenges through advanced tools and community-driven approaches.,Prof. Sandeep Kaur (Department of Economic Studies) participated as a visiting fellow at the Centro Internacional de Política Económica para el Desarrollo Sostenible (CINPE), Costa Rica, from November 4–15, 2024.

During her tenure, she engaged in research discussions, delivered guest lectures, and conducted field visits to prominent sites, including RECOPE and coffee plantations in Los Santos. Her collaboration with CINPE’s BIOINCA Research Team has paved the way for sustainability-focused research initiatives.

Professor Zameerpal Kaur Sandhu Bajwa (Department of Punjabi) visited Cardiff University, Wales, as a Visiting Fellow from October 12–21, 2024. She delivered a lecture on Indian aesthetics, engaged in discussions on Indian and Western philosophy, and explored a potential MoU between Cardiff University and CU Punjab. From October 23–25, she attended a global meeting at the International Baccalaureate, fostering further academic collaborations.

Prof. Raghavendra P. Tiwari, the Vice-Chancellor of CU Punjab, commended the professors for their efforts, emphasizing the university's dedication to impactful global collaborations. “These initiatives exemplify CU Punjab's commitment to co-creating adaptable, science-based solutions for sustainable resource management while fostering meaningful global partnerships and local engagement,” he stated.

These international endeavors underscore CU Punjab's pivotal role in driving global academic collaborations and advancing research for sustainable development.
