A media delegation from Andhra Pradesh, comprising eight journalists and officers of Press Information Bureau and Central Bureau of Communication, Vijayawada began their press tour to the state of Punjab today, December 5, 2024.

On the first day, the delegation met with the Governor of Haryana, Shri Bandaru Dattatreya at Raj Bhavan. 

Additional Director General (Region), Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Vijayawada, Government of India, Shri Rajinder Chaudhary led the delegation.The Governor of Haryana Shri Bandaru Dattatreya told the visiting media delegation that the state of Haryana is going to implement the National Education Policy from next year itself, as against the national target of 2030. 

He stated that the NEP is progressive, scientific, and employment-oriented. The Governor spoke on the importance of mother tongue and said that the focus on using regional languages even in higher education, as in countries across the world, will help the learning process.“182 centres in Haryana to be developed as pilgrimage centres related to the Gita” 

Speaking about the three-day 9th International Gita Mahotsav which began today, the Governor of Haryana recalled how the Bhagavad Gita lays stress on environment and cautions us to not exploit natural resources.He said that about 700 research papers on this theme will be discussed during the Mahotsav. 

So far, a total of 182 pilgrimage centres related to the Gita have been identified and 112 are being authorized for development as pilgrim destinations in Haryana.The Governor pointed out the Gita is a source of value-based education for students. 

The media delegation also came to know that the state of Haryana is planning to launch its own satellite, as suggested by the Governor.  Through the press tour, an initiative of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India, the media delegation would be given exposure to the functioning of developmental schemes of the government in the state.

Tomorrow, the media delegation will visit the National Institute of Technology, Jalandhar and get exposed to the implementation of the National Education Policy. They would also interact with IG, BSF and be exposed to the role, responsibilities and functioning of BSF in the region. The press party is also scheduled to visit Amritsar and visit the Golden Temple, Shri Durgiana Temple, Attari border and Jallianwala Bagh Memorial, before returning to their home state.
