In a notable development, Dr. Rupesh Kumar Singh, President of the Punjab and Chandigarh Chapter of the Bihar Foundation, along with fellow office bearers Niraj Kumar Singh and Pallav Kumar, held a successful meeting today with the Honourable Governor of Punjab and Administrator of Chandigarh, Shri Gulab Chand Kataria.
During the meeting, key global and local initiatives of the Bihar Foundation were discussed, focusing on strengthening the ties between Bihar's diaspora and the state's development efforts.
The Bihar Foundation, established in 2006 by the Government of Bihar, has emerged as a leading organization committed to fostering deeper connections between Bihar and its expansive diaspora, both in India and internationally.
With 13 chapters in India and 15 chapters abroad, including in the USA, UK, Japan, UAE, Australia, and Singapore, the Foundation works to engage Non-Resident Biharis and Persons of Bihari Origin (PBOs) in contributing to the state's progress.
A key focus of the Foundation is to promote collaboration within the Bihari diaspora, facilitating business partnerships, and advancing socio-economic development in Bihar. By leveraging the knowledge, expertise, and resources of the global Bihari community, the Foundation aims to support Bihar’s growth in crucial areas such as infrastructure, education, healthcare, and more.
In his meeting with Governor Gulab Chand Kataria, Dr. Rupesh Kumar Singh provided an overview of the Foundation’s initiatives, including events like the Bihar Foundation Day and Bihari Pravasi Samman, which celebrate Bihar’s culture, promote tourism, and attract investment to enhance the state's international reputation.
The Honourable Governor expressed strong support for the Foundation’s work and its efforts in fostering partnerships between Bihar and its global community. The creation of Bihar Bhavan in Chandigarh and the celebration of Bihar Foundation Day were also discussed during the meeting.
One of the Foundation's key initiatives is the Pravasi Bihari Divas, an event that serves as a platform for Biharis living outside the state to engage with government representatives, explore investment opportunities, and contribute to Bihar’s progress.
Additionally, the Bihar Foundation is dedicated to supporting the welfare of the Bihari diaspora, addressing their concerns, and facilitating meaningful dialogue with state authorities. It also works closely with educational institutions to enhance skill development, education, and employment opportunities for Bihar’s residents, drawing on the expertise of the global Bihari community.
Beyond development, the Foundation actively advises the Government of Bihar on policies and schemes aimed at improving the socio-economic landscape of the state. Through its ongoing efforts, it plays a vital role in bridging the gap between Bihar and its global diaspora, contributing to the long-term growth and sustainability of the state.
The meeting with Governor Kataria represents another important milestone in the Bihar Foundation’s efforts to promote Bihar’s rich cultural heritage, encourage investment, and empower the Bihari community worldwide.
