In a remarkable achievement, Simarpreet Kaur a talented student of Yoga from Desh Bhagat University, has secured a bronze medal in Karate at the prestigious Commonwealth Karate Championship held recently in South Africa. 

The championship, which attracts participants from across the Commonwealth, saw intense competition in various disciplines, with Karate being an exciting addition this year. Simarpreet Kaur, who is currently pursuing Post Graduate Diploma (PG) in Yoga at Desh Bhagat University, demonstrated exceptional skill, focus, and dedication, earning the third-place finish among a strong field of contenders. 

The competition was intense, with participants showcasing their mastery in the traditional practice of Karate, combining physical flexibility, strength, and mental discipline. While congratulating to Simarpreet Kaur, Chancellor Dr Zora Singh and Dr Tajinder Kaur Pro-Chancellor of Desh Bhagat University said that they are committed to fostering excellence in academics, sports, and personal development. 

With a focus on holistic education, the university supports students in pursuing diverse talents, including sports, arts and wellness. "I am honored to represent my university and my country at such a prestigious event," said Simarpreet Kaur, reflecting on the victory. 

"This achievement is the result of countless hours of training and the support of my coaches, peers, and family. Yoga has always been an integral part of my life, and it’s truly rewarding to see it recognized in an international arena like the Commonwealth Karate Championship." 

The competition, which blends various martial arts disciplines, has become a prominent platform for athletes to display their versatility.
