In preparation for the municipal body elections, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab President Aman Arora held a meeting with AAP leaders in Jalandhar on Saturday after previous meetings in Chandigarh. The meeting involved extensive discussions on the Amritsar and Jalandhar municipal corporations.

The meeting was attended by AAP Punjab Working President Amansher Singh Sherry Kalsi, Cabinet Minister Kuldeep Dhaliwal, Minister Mohinder Bhagat, former minister Inderbir Singh Nijjar, MLA Dr. Ajay Gupta, party leaders Deepak Bali, Dr Sunny Ahluwalia, and other party officials.

Following the meeting, Aman Arora informed the media that detailed discussions on municipal corporations were held today. Tomorrow, meetings will be conducted with party leaders from areas related to municipal councils and committees. Elections are also scheduled for 42 municipal councils and committees in the state. "All committees are equally important to us, and our focus will remain the same for each," Arora emphasized.

He further stated that there is immense enthusiasm among people across cities for the Aam Aadmi Party. "Everywhere, people are praising the work done by the AAP government. This sentiment was evident during the by-elections as well," he said. "Now, people across Punjab understand that only Aam Aadmi Party can deliver honest governance, development, and free facilities."

Arora expressed confidence that, just as the people entrusted the AAP with victory in 3 out of 4 seats during the by-elections, they will ensure the party’s victory with a massive margin in municipal elections, electing AAP mayors and presidents in all corporations, councils, and committees.

Party workers to be prioritized in ticket allocation

Arora announced that starting tomorrow (December 1), Aam Aadmi Party will begin accepting applications for municipal corporation, council, and committee ward councilor candidates. The selection process will prioritize merit, loyalty to the party, local social dynamics, and winning potential.

He stressed that party workers will be given first preference in ticket allocation. “If individuals from other parties join AAP and have a clean image, they may be considered, but the majority of tickets will be given to those associated with the party. We have a robust, dedicated cadre of active workers across the state, and they will be considered first,” he said.

Arora’s reaction to Sunil Jakhar’s statement – Avoid making absurd statements, present evidence, the government will act

Aman Arora responded sharply to Punjab BJP President Sunil Jakhar’s statement on MSP, saying that Jakhar is a senior and experienced leader who should refrain from making absurd remarks. "If he has any evidence of such irregularities, he should present it. The Punjab government will take immediate action."

Arora clarified that Punjab government has no direct role in MSP payments. “The central government releases MSP funds, which are directly deposited into farmers’ accounts. Therefore, there is no scope for deductions from the funds reaching farmers,” he explained.

He accused Jakhar’s statement of being a tactic to divert attention from real issues.Arora urged Jakhar to focus on raising farmers’ issues with the central government and working to resolve them, instead of doing baseless criticisms of the Punjab government.
